Iron Man 4 Confirmed

Will There Be A Fourth Iron Man Installment? YES!!

We just learned that Disney and Marvel have announced the release date of 2 new films which we believe are Iron Man 4 and The Avengers 3 - Checkout our June 18th update at the bottom of this page for more details! As detailed in our posts below, The Iron Man 4 project has already been confirmed by key players in the Iron Man franchise, but it is even more exciting that the release date may now be official. Everyone knows super hero movies are big business nowadays in Hollywood, so it should come as no surprise that the big wigs at Marvel are gearing up to bring Tony Stark back to the big screen for a fourth installment in the Iron Man series of films. As you can imagine, with the first 3 films being so successful - the first 3 films alone on track to gross 2.5 Billion dollars at the box office, Iron Man 4 just makes good business sense. Clearly the fans love the Iron Man story line, and who wouldn't want to see more of Tony Stark and the captivating saga that we have come to love so much? Although nothing is official at this point, the director Shane Black stated that he was "sure" Robert Downey Jr. would be back in Iron Man 4 (see April 19th update below), and we can only keep our fingers crossed that he is right since Robert Downey Jr. has done such a brilliant job portraying Tony Stark thus far. The president of production at Marvel Studios also seems to think that Robert Downey Jr. will be back for Iron Man 4, so this gives us more hope that the team will reunite for the fourth installment.  In other exciting news, it has been confirmed that Iron Man will also be back in The Avengers 2 set to release on May 1st, 2015. We will keep you posted on the Iron Man 4 project as it progresses and comes closer to production. - THE IRONMAN4.NET TEAM

April 19, 2013: Director Confirms Iron Man 4!

While attending the UK Premiere for Iron Man 3, director Shane Black stated that Robert Downey Jr. will be back for Iron Man 4. "I think he'll be back for another one. I'm sure of it," Black told Bang Showbiz. There has been recent question as of late if Robert Downey Jr. would return for Iron Man 4 as most recently the actor questioned how much longer he would be involved. He recently talked with GQ about retiring from the character. "This period of time, this shall pass," Robert Downey Jr. said. "Fortunately I've been around the block enough -- I'm not ill-prepared. And I love change. I love it when a lightning bolt hits the genny and you're down for two hours on the set. Now, this isn't a lightning strike, this is like the warning of a gathering storm." The gathering storm would be referring to the injury the actor suffered on the set while filming Iron Man 3 which resulted in a twisted ankle. "It got me thinking about how big the message from your cosmic sponsor needs to be before you pick it up," he continued. "How many genre movies can I do? How many follow-ups to a successful follow-up are actually fun?" Robert Downey Jr. is also not officially signed on for The Avengers 2, but talks are underway. "Me, the agents and the lawyers are having a bit of a ball right now," he said. With Black's stating that he is sure Robert Downey Jr. will back, that could possibly also hint that the director will return for Iron Man 4 as well. It's also been said that when Downey Jr. does decided to hang up his repulsor blasters, that Marvel Studios will go in a direction similar to James Bond, in that they won't totally reboot the character. Iron Man 3 blasts off May 3rd, 2013 in the United States.

Marvel President Talks Iron Man 4 & Iron Man 5?!

With 'Iron Man 3' released in May excitement has started to build about Tony Stark's return to action, and it seems that Marvel bosses are so excited that plans for 'Iron Man 4' are already forming in the heads of movie bosses. Although for understandable reasons the plans are vague and not fully formed yet, as bosses will want to see how the third movie does before thinking about specifics, and there's 'The Avengers 2', 'Thor 2' and Captain America's latest outing to think about, Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige has revealed that he thinks Tony has a few more films in him before Robert Downey Jr hangs up the suit. Feige told MTV: "Characters like James Bond and Batman, whose stories go on and on and on -I think Tony is one of those characters. Where we go directly after 'Iron Man 3' ... I'm not looking too far ahead. I'm looking to finish 'Iron Man 3,' getting into 'Avengers 2,' and then seeing where we go from there. But I do think we have more Tony Stark tales to tell, and we'll take it one movie -- or maybe two movies -- at a time.'' However things won't be easy for the iconic character in his latest outing, as Feige said: "It's almost like post-traumatic stress: he really has retreated after the events of 'The Avengers' into his workshop, where he's building advanced versions of his suits. "He has [designed] a version of the suit that can latch onto him in individual pieces ... anytime, anywhere. As he starts to realize, it's basically because he doesn't want to be out of the suit: he's seen a lot of things in 'Avengers' and has encountered a lot of powerful people, much more powerful than he is." 'Iron Man 3' was released in the United States on May 3rd, 2013.

April 27th, 2013 Update

We have seen news & rumors floating around the net that Gwyneth Paltrow has said she thinks there will not be an Iron Man 4. Well folks, although Gwyneth Paltrow may independently decide not to sign on to the Iron Man 4 project (or be uninformed at this point), the fact that both the president of production at Marvel and director Shane Black have already mentioned that Iron Man 4 will happen, we think it's safe to say that the Iron Man 4 movie will be made, although the studio may still be in negotiations with Gwyneth about her role in future movies in the Iron Man franchise. It is also possible that the Iron Man 4 project is still so classified / discreet at this point that the studio has not even discussed it with the actors until everything becomes more official. We can only keep our fingers crossed that Gwyneth will decide to sign on to Iron Man 4 after all since she has done such a great job in the first three Iron Man movies, we would hate to see her go!

April 29th, 2013 Update - Iron Man 3 A Hit

Iron Man 3 has been met with tremendous success in Europe and is already on track to take in more than the first 2 Iron Man films combined, breaking UK box office records before it has even entered into the United States (Iron Man 3 opens May 3rd in the U.S.). This is great news for fans of the Iron Man franchise and we can only assume that the plans Director Shane Black and President of Production at Marvel have made for Iron Man 4 are only becoming more solidified at this point in time due to the huge success of Iron Man 3.

Iron Man 3 grossed an estimated $195.3 million internationally for its first five days in 42 territories. According to Deadline it's "the #1 film in every market and is the biggest opening weekend of all time in Asia Pacific and Latin America

May 13th, 2013- RDJ Looking For $100 Million

The net has been buzzing about the recent negotiations between Robert Downey Jr.'s agents and Marvel. We know the negotiations include the already announced Avengers 2 coming May 1st, 2015 and quite possibly include the Avengers 3 and Iron Man 4. RDJ is looking for $100 Million guaranteed payout plus 7% royalty on box office receipts to sign on officially to the Avengers 2 and Iron Man 4 projects, and with Iron Man 3 on track to top 1 Billion at the box office, we think this might indeed be a realistic request from the star of the Iron Man Saga. Actually considering the huge success of Iron Man 3 and The Avengers, $100 Million sounds like quite a bargain for Marvel considering how much they stand to loose if they don't sign Robert Downey Jr. (analysts project at least 9% drop in profits without RDJ) This latest deal would make Robert Downey Jr. the highest paid actor in Hollywood ever! According to a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed they will be doing Iron Man 4 with or without Robert Downey Jr.; however, we think that would be a horrible idea to cut RDJ Marvel. Of course RDJ's agents are playing hardball now to drive up the price the actor will fetch under the new contract, which is understandable considering the circumstances. Feige also confirmed that the studio has plans to continue the Iron Man franchise for quite some time stating, "I believe there will be a fourth 'Iron Man' film and a fifth and a sixth and a 10th and a 20th," he said. "I see no reason why Tony Stark can't be as evergreen as James Bond. Or Batman, for that matter. Or Spider-man." Well we don't know about Iron Man 20, Kevin, but we sure would like to see RDJ back in Iron Man 4! Common Marvel / Disney, cough up the cash for RDJ and lets make Iron Man 4 official!

May 15th, 2013 - Iron Man 3 Tops $1 Billion

As of Wednesday morning, May 15th, after less than 2 weeks in U.S. theaters, Iron Man 3 has soared to an outstanding $980 Million Dollars of box office sales worldwide! We project that as of Wednesday night, the film will top the milestone $1 Billion Dollar mark and putting it on track to top revenues of the first 2 Iron Man films combined in only a few short weeks. Only 16 movies have ever topped a billion at the box office, so things are looking bright for the Iron Man 4 film to be fast tracked into production sooner rather than later. As mentioned in our previous updates above, both the director of Iron Man 3 and president of production at Marvel Studios have already confirmed plans to proceed with a fourth and possibly fifth Iron Man installment, so the fact that Iron Man 3 is being so well received thus far brings great hope that the fourth Iron Man movie will be coming to a screen near you in the near future. Although nothing has been confirmed officially at this point, we hope that the great success of Iron Man 3 may help spawn an official announcement of Iron Man 4 and close negotiations with Robert Downey Jr. very soon.

Iron Man 3 5th Highest Grossing Movie Ever!

Iron Man 3 has surpassed box office expectations and has skyrocketed to the top of worldwide grosses becoming the 5th highest grossing movie of all time! Ahead of Iron Man 3 on the top grossing movies list are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Marvel's The Avengers, Titanic, and Avatar - These are the only movies ever that have earned more than Iron Man 3! We have recently discovered that studio execs are under serious negotiations in regards to Iron Man 4, and it's no surprise thanks to the massive money maker Marvel has become for Disney due mostly to the great success of Iron Man 3 and the Avengers. As mentioned in our earlier updates, the key players have already confirmed that their will be an Iron Man 4, but it is still very hush hush at this point due to the ongoing negotiations between  cast members including Robert Downey Jr. and the studio. We hear RDJ wants his fellow cast mates to be paid more in the upcoming Avengers 2 and Iron Man 4 films, and it is no doubt that they should be paid more considering how much of a cash cow the Iron man franchises have become for Disney. Disney acquired Marvel in 2009 for $4 billion, and we all know Disney has some pretty deep pockets (they also own ABC, Pixar, and now Lucasfilm), so there really should be no issues with paying the cast more this time around. Whether you are watching Star Wars, The Bachelor, Toy Story, Iron Man, or the Miami Heat vs. The San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals, you are watching a Disney owned production, and you can only imagine that they have a full team of employees who already have put together a solid game plan for Iron Man 4 and probably Iron Man 5 at this point. Now it's just the fine details to work out, like what is the most economical way to get the best cast and crew together for Iron Man 4 and Avengers 2. We hope to hear an official announcement of Iron Man 4 from the studio soon!

Marvel Announces Iron Man 4 Release Date?!

Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have announced the release dates of 2 new "untitled" films. Although, Disney and Marvel have not yet released the titles of these 2 mysterious new movies, we think we have the mystery solved! The announcement is great news, as we already know Marvel has been in serious negotiations about cast members, in particular Robert Downey Jr., for The Avengers 2 and Iron Man 4. Since The Avengers 2 already has a release date of May 1, 2015, we have a good idea of what the new movies announced will be. The dates announced are May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017; obviously, they are going for the hugely successful summer blockbuster formula for 1st weekend in May opening nights for these 2 new movies. The first clue to solving the riddle of which movies Marvel has just announced is that all 3 Iron Man movies and The Avengers have had Friday night openings the first weekend in May in the United States. The May opening weekend dates are a clue that gives us a good hint of what is to come, and we are quite certain that the new movies announced by Marvel will be Iron Man 4, and The Avengers 3. It is more than likely, Marvel is working on a 3 film deal with Robert Downey Jr. for The Avengers 2, Iron Man 4, and The Avengers 3 since he was out of contract after Iron Man 3. The second clue supporting our hypothesis is that these dates would give the magic 2-3 year spacing that was used between the first 3 Iron Man films and the first 2 Avengers films. We anticipate the release date for Iron Man 4 will be May 6, 2016, and the release date for The Avengers 3 will be May 5, 2017. This makes perfect sense since it would give the studio ample time to produce and promote each of the films while piggy backing on the success of prior films in the Iron Man and Avengers franchises. As Iron Man 3's huge success can largely be attributed to it's piggybacking off the success of The Avengers, so will The Avengers 2 piggyback off the success of Iron Man 3.  Iron Man 4 in turn would piggyback off the success of the Avengers 2, and the cycle goes on and on making Marvel and Disney an outrageous amount of money until climaxing on May 5, 2017 with the release of The Avengers 3! Quite a brilliant plan, don't you think?! Of course we doubt that The Avengers 3 film will be the end of the Iron Man franchise, on the contrary we think it could be just the beginning...You heard the new release date for Iron Man 4 and The Avengers 3 at first!
